Xanthe's gaze darted to the bird man when it appeared like he wanted to speak, and was glad when Feofil cut him off before he had the chance because it looked like he had nothing good to say. She was pleased to hear Feofil agree to offer aid. She had hoped that having the peacekeepers as backup would lead Pelagia Xista to act with civility and perhaps understanding. She had never met the leader of the Aurcaeli forces but she had seen what her soldiers could do.
What made Xanthe uncomfortable was the talk about war, and even more uncomfortable was the talk of laws governing it. While it was true that even the Attonians had unspoken rules of war, she hadn't realized that the invaders had come here for it. She knew they had come for her land, for her people, for anything that wasn't theirs but which they felt they had the entitlement to, but for war? She didn't know. It gave everything a level of gravity that she hadn't considered before. Like this could really be the end of Atton, if she didn't protect it.
Erik waited longer than Xanthe expected before interrupting Feofil. She couldn't understand most of what he said but she could once again understand his tone just fine. She knew how displeased he was with the plan. Luckily, even as a leader of the peacekeepers he had no say in the matter. Ellis expressed it well enough when he stood. She didn't need anyone to defend her, but that didn't mean she couldn't appreciate it. He told Erik to speak to her or not at all, and reminded them to her pleasure that this was not their temple.
Xanthe rose to her feet in one smooth motion and placed a hand on Ellis's arm. "Thank you Ellis." She turned her attention to Feofil and Ilithiya. "Thank you Foefil, Ilithiya. We will meet Pelagia Xista here." She turned her attention to Erik, her displeasure of his attitude clear in her tone. "This is my temple. My Atton. You are oxbujan. Oh fa je xes doma os rana, fa una lad'qefa se dauba."
Oxbujan - invader
Oh fa je xes doma os rana, fa una lad'qefa se dauba - If you do not like it here, you are welcome to leave.
