The 13th of the Scales of Judgement
Late Afternoon Near the Hermit's Cottage
Tehodis was fading fast.
She had actually mustered a bit of energy on the ship from Submiere to Niseca - "Perhaps the smell of the ocean breeze," She had whispered, "Or the increasing distance from him." - and had told Endless everything that had happened. The real version. Or at least, the version that was real to her.
"He brought me this... This bracelet. It was beautiful, and if I hadn't been so starved maybe I could have felt that evil coming off of it. But I didn't... And he put it on me," She tried to raise her arm, and wept as she couldn't - it wasn't there, "Blackness, Endless. Blackness inside me. Ruining me."
She didn't know what would have happened if Endless hadn't been there. Been near. Would she have died? Or something worse? She had already lost an arm, which seemed awful already, but the darkness was still inside of her. The literal stump - of wood - at her arm was keeping it at bay for now, but the wood was rotting. It fell of in chunks, revealing her skin underneath, boiling with blackness. And by the time they were on a horse -- they only took one, Tehodis didn't have the energy nor the arms to control one herself -- she couldn't help but moan. Strings of blackness were breaking through the wood and crawling across her shoulder, towards her chest. Her centre.
"Are we near?" She managed to whimper at one point, the trees all looking like the last trees they had seen, but the scent of the ocean long gone now. She didn't know how long she could hold out, didn't know how much longer it would be until she was unconscious again. But thankfully - they were close. There, that was the tree Simon had fallen out of when Endless had first met him. They were very close.
