The Woods Near Boiss
A light dusting of snow covered the grasses and trees, giving the morning a feeling of tranquility. Charlotte marched through these woods at an easy pace, her goal being nowhere specific. She kept her eyes peeled for anything of note, but for now, she was (as usual) not certain what she was searching for. It was a little bit frustrating honestly; she finally had a concrete goal, an objective, a major clue to finding the cause of one of her visions, but right now? She was more or less just doing business as usual: receiving vague visions, traveling to random locations in accordance to those visions, and hoping she found something useful in the process.
She had sort of hoped that once she got ahold of Sabine's Scroll, she'd receive much more clear-cut direction in what she could do. She sighed as she looked up at the sky, watching the gentle snowfall. The Winter Storm was still a couple days off, but already the season was taking effect. She hoped maybe Kiku was having more luck than she; when they'd last parted, he'd promised to keep his eyes peeled for any weird events that seemed like they might be related to the Doors of Death, and also she had pointed him towards a lead for finding his mother. If at least he found some success, then perhaps this splitting up venture could be seen as not a total loss.
In the meantime, she still had no clue why she was here.
'Hey now, don't get discouraged! Who knows, maybe you'll find one of those spells around here!' Sojourn supplied helpfully. She was the only one with Charlotte today.
It would certainly be very convenient if that were the case. Finding one of the thirteen spells spoken of in the seal of Fayana (whatever that was; Charlotte and her sponsors had reasoned that it was probably some sort of object), would in fact be incredible. If Charlotte could find even just one, and hide it away, that would essentially safeguard that seal from ever being broken. It was a neat thought, but somehow Charlotte got the feeling that Fayana had not been so plain as to hide one such spell in the middle of some random woods near an occupied city. It wasn't going to be that simple.
'Well, not with that attitude. Chin up, Char!'
Ah, Sojourn. Ever the optimist.
'Ooh! There's a cottage up further ahead. Want to see it?'
Oh, well that was sudden. Charlotte nodded her head, thinking why not? Maybe it was what she was here for.
'Reach for me, Char!'
Doing as bidden, Charlotte felt herself subconsciously envisioning the place Sojourn saw, even though she had never seen it herself, and she accessed the power of conjuration her sponsor offered her. A brief poof later, and Charlotte found herself standing in front of quite a nice-looking cottage. There was a vegetable garden, carefully cleared of the snow, and the place looked large enough to have all the amenities of comfortable living.
Smiling at the quaintness, she began to stroll around it, taking the place in.
