[attr="class","appheading"]PERSONALITY
[attr="class","appcontainer"]
While most would describe Leigh as standoffish, harsh, rude, brusque, or any other number of words that could be interchanged with "just plain mean" - she has her moments. To those she trusts and respects, Leigh will defer her most automatic of thoughts and allow a show of that respect or trust. She will manage a kind (or at least "not negative") comment, she will permit someone closer, she will act as a somewhat respectable person. [break][break]
Then, around women who she feels an attraction to - or simply when the desire strikes and that woman is the only around... Or when she sees a woman who might pose a challenge to charm - she adds a layer of charm to her brash demeanour. Though for the women stuck in arranged marriages with slobbering, fat, husks of men, it takes merely a whispered description to gain a moment in their beds, and a keepsake to take on the seas with her. [break][break]
However... To most, she is exactly as described above: Just plain mean. She doesn't see much point in talking unless she speaks her mind, and her mind is often filled with derision. [break][break]
The biggest fact about Leigh, is that she has deep-seated trust issues. She has been betrayed by most that she has met - or at least, most she met prior to her life as a pirate - and so it takes time and dedication to earn anything but a night with her. Even in the romantic relationships she has attempted since, her fear has taken hold of her and caused her to destroy them all.

[attr="class","appheading"]APPEARANCE
[attr="class","appcontainer"]
Leigh stands at six feet tall which, while not particularly towering compared to some humans, combined with her glowering stare makes her intimidating to most. [break][break]
Leigh's skin is a mid-brown colour common among tide elves, particularly those that live along the sea's edge in Submiere as fishers. Her dirty blonde hair is always a mess of tangles as it never sees a comb outside of the women she beds running their fingers through it. Her eyes, while uninteresting elvish slants on their own, are given attention in the form of a solid black powder that she rubs onto the skin around her eyes each day, giving her an almost war-painted look. Because of her attachment to such things - and her refusal to comb her hair - she's never asked to go on journeys that require subtlety. [break][break]
Leigh likes to keep her clothing mostly simple, binding her (already meagre) chest with linen wraps, wearing loose cotton shirts and pants in black, and leather boots held up by a single strap - for ease of removal should she find herself stranded in the water. The only complex piece of clothing she wears is an old leather jacket of black colour that remains the one thing she took when she left home. The jacket flares at the sleeves and drops into tails at her waist. The most interesting part of the jacket is the back, which she has torn apart in favour of strings zigzagging across, to which she clips, pins, and sews interesting items picked up along the way - including cuts of maiden handkerchiefs and ribbons to remember her many "lost" loves by. [break][break]
Despite the complete intrigue of her appearance, there is one thing that is always noticed before all others, a thing that makes it quite impossible for her to hide in plain sight: Her right hand is absent, and in its place, a stained metal hook attached to her stump with firmly done leather straps. Thankfully she is left-handed so such a thing has not been an incredible handicap for her - but it still leaves her lacking a hand, albeit gaining a weapon.

[attr="class","appheading"]HISTORY
[attr="class","appcontainer"]
Leigh was born to a fishing couple in Mantlea, Eersaeb. Her father was a tide elf, her mother a human. He had grown up with the tribe of tide elves, but had left for love - something he preached the importance of to Leigh from a young age. Certainly he had lost the love of his family... But he worshipped Khades. She had sacrificed her love so that no one else would need to again, and so he would stay true to those desires. After all, it was because of that that he was gifted with a daughter like Leigh. [break][break]
Leigh was a happy child, and a happier young woman. She wasn't overly friendly, but had those she was close with, and worked hard. She enjoyed her life - and even had her own great love. A beautiful human girl named Amelia. The two were inseparable - completely in love. Leigh's parents had no issue with the relationship, they believed so dearly in loved... But Amelia's parents had a different idea. To them, Amelia was more important than just a person who they had birthed. She was their child - their only child - and she was expected to carry on their pure bloodline. They told Leigh to leave Amelia - offering an impressive sum to do so - and she refused. They told Amalia to claim that Leigh had raped her, preserve her name and remove her from the relation - she refused, even when lied to and told that Leigh had accepted the money to leave her. Amelia knew better.[break][break]
With none of their simpler plans working, they found that they needed a more complex option. So they conferred with their friends in the local police force, who offered the only advice they could think of. "If she commits a crime, we can do something... Otherwise we can't touch her." They had their plan. [break][break]
A few days later, Leigh was arrested by the police for thievery. She denied it, insisted she had never stolen a thing in her life -- but there was an object in her room that certainly didn't belong to her, one she had never seen before. She was shocked, and didn't know what to say except that she hadn't done it. It wasn't her.[break][break]
While in holding, Amelia's parents came to see Leigh. She begged for their help, promised she had done nothing - and they told her that they knew... But that didn't matter. She needed to be kept away from Amelia who, by the way, agreed. In fact, she had planted the evidence during her and Leigh's most recent tryst. Leigh was shocked. Broken. Betrayed. She had nothing left. She stopped fighting the charge, as she had nothing she wanted to fight it for. [break][break]
They took her right hand - the usual punishment for a first offence thieving. It was a mistake of course - she was left handed. She served six years afterwards for the crime. When she was released, she immediately packed up and left her village. She did not listen to her parent's pleas, she didn't stop to hear what Amelia wanted to say. Leigh wasn't a happy young woman anymore. [break][break]
After that, she took off with a crew aiming to sail to a new world... They didn't get far before pirates attacked. They overpowered the small crew easily and gave them three options: Risk swimming in retreat, die at their blade, or join. Leigh wasn't the only one who joined, but she was the only one alive long enough to call that ship family. [break][break]
She fell in love with the ship, called The Maiden's Revenge. And on that ship, she found something else to love. A beautiful tiefling by the name of Karenina, with skin crimson like the sky at sunset, and eyes amber like the shine of the sun on the sea. But Leigh couldn't forget Amelia, couldn't forget the betrayal she had felt at the hands of the last person she had loved. She would never tell Karenina how she felt... Not until one of their crew sold out their ship to the SSPB, leading to them being attacked by a fleet. [break][break]
There was no way out except the water. Leigh was part tide elf, she could survive in the water for hours. Karenina was not. Leigh stole a single kiss from Karenina as the SSPB boarded... And then she dove into the water. She listened to the shots of cannons from deep below, she heard the cries. She saw bodies - Peacekeeper and Pirate - hitting the water. Their blood clouded her view of the surface. When the ship began to sink, she swum in its hull and tried to find any left alive. Any other dead. She hadn't seen Karenina. She thought perhaps she had been apprehended. A symbol to hang come morning. There was still hope if that was the case... But as the peacekeeper vessels left, and Leigh surfaced, she found what she had been dreading. Karenina. She had no reason to leave it, not even when another ship crested the horizon. [break][break]
This ship wasn't peacekeeper however. It flew a black sail. Those aboard fished Leigh out of the water - along with Karenina, who Leigh clung to. They introduced themselves as the best pirates on the seas of the world. The Defiled Grail. They told her they made a point of gathering any pirate they could find to join their crew - so long as that pirate was willing to dedicate their lives to the spread of piracy and the destruction of the SSPB.[break][break]
Sounded like a great deal to Leigh. She had no love for the SSPB, or any legal organization. She had learned by now that the law wasn't a force of good. It was merely a force of power, and anyone with enough clout or money could decide what was "law" and what wasn't. The world would be better without it.

[attr="class","appheading"]ABILITIES
[attr="class","appcontainer"]
[attr="class","appability"]➢ Sailing, Navigation, and Fishing[break]
Having spent all of her life with the sea, Leigh is more than familiar with it. She knows how to wayfind and navigate with ease, even in the middle of an empty ocean, knows the ins and out of any typical sea-faring vessel, and can fish with any number of materials.
[break][break]
[attr="class","appability"]➢ Weapons Training & Unarmed Combat[break]
While she only learned basic defense techniques in her youth, her time with pirates has had her learned the use of a cutlass, dagger, and - more recently - a pistol. They were liberated from an SSPB weapons cache that the Grail had broken into. Leigh was a part of the reclamation team, but that didn't gain her use of it. No, they gave the pistols found to the best shooters. Turns out, Leigh's a respectable shot.[break][break]
Along with that, her time in prison gave her a strong education on how to fight without arms... Even to kill.
[break][break]
[attr="class","appability"]➢ Roguish Talents[break]
During her time in prison, Leigh became close with an actual thief. It took her a couple of years to warm up to the idea, originally wanting to prove herself not a thief... But she became convinced. Why not do it, if you already paid for it? She was missing a hand, and had spent her youth in prison. She might as well become the thiref they all thought she was. Lockpicking was difficult with only one hand, but she learned. She'd find a time to use those skills when she became a pirate.
[break][break]
[attr="class","appability"]➢ Tide Elf Ancestry[break]
While her fey ancestry has been lost to her human blood, Leigh has retained some of the dimsight that elves are capable of, and is capable of breathing water for long periods of time - though she isn't completely amphibious like pure tide elves. Instead, she can last around two hours under water before needing fresh air.
