Simon was glad Endless accepted his offer to stay the night, and amused when the other boy said he had been thinking about sleeping in a tree prior to meeting him. He couldn't help but laugh at that. Endless said he had to make it to Boiss sometime in the morning though, to sell jewels to may for a ferry to get to Eersaeb, and it sounded like he had things pretty well figured out from there so Simon nodded and gave a wink when Endless asked to make sure he didn't sleep too late. "I will have a nice refreshing cold bucket of water waiting just for the occasion," he replied jokingly. "And breakfast, of course." The last part wasn't a joke, because only a monster would joke about breakfast.
When Endless curled up on the chair it was unbelievably adorable which Simon thought was just unfair. He wanted to lean over and ruffle his hair, or wrap him in a big cozy blanket so he would be a comfy burrito all bundled up on his chair... Whoa calm down there thoughts. He was just staying the night and then heading out tomorrow. Don't fuck this up.
Simon realized he was gazing fondly over at Endless but at this point he didn't really care. They felt close, now. Like good friends, even though they had only known each other for a day. They'd shared parts of themselves that they didn't normally tell other people, and Simon didn't think he was being arrogant to say he thought maybe they both felt a little something for the other. He didn't want to push too far down that road though. In fact, better not to think about it.
The sun had set by then, and Simon didn't realize the moon was up until the clouds cleared and it shone brightly through the window. Maybe too brightly? But wait, no, that extra light wasn't coming from the moon. It was coming from Endless. His eyes were shining like the moon and Simon couldn't look away, didn't care if Endless saw him staring in awe. He'd never seen anything like it before, and it was incredible. "Whoa," he breathed.
